About me
Bonjour
My name is Kanchha Lal Gurung. I was born in the small village of Yamgang, in the Manaslu region, in 1978 (2034 according to the Nepali calendar).
At the age of thirteen, I started working as a porter for tented treks for the agency "Terres d'Aventure" and for the U.C.P.A.
Little by little, through contact with the trekkers, I taught myself French. I worked in this job for six years, until I was nineteen. Clients quickly appreciated my kindness and helpfulness. Afterward, I took on the role of cook for the same agencies for three years.
In 2001, I became a trek guide for a local French-speaking agency in Kathmandu. In 2006, I was recruited by Allibert and led groups of tourists until 2018.
After that, I was approached by many people who had met me during various treks to organize and lead custom groups (with itineraries tailored to their requests). Over the years, friendships were formed, and my contact list in France grew exponentially. I was invited many times to stay in France and Switzerland by these same people.
The experience I gained now allows me to offer my services and safely guide small groups of trekkers (up to 10 people) on different routes in our beautiful Himalayan mountains.
I also organize cultural visits in Kathmandu and the villages.
This work allows me to provide for the needs of my family, which consists of my wife Durga and my three children.
